MinGent

A supply chain resistant AI agent.

MinGent works in your files, runs commands and uses its own browser, with models on your own PC. It has no dependency tree: you build it yourself, with the compiler already in Windows.

1.0.2 beta for Windows 10 and 11. Free and open source.

The MinGent window: a chat where the agent made a small website. Its steps are listed with icons: planning, looking in the Desktop folder, writing index.html and style.css, running a local server, opening the page, a web search and deleting an old draft to the Recycle Bin.

What it does

No dependency tree

Most AI tools pull in hundreds of packages from npm or PyPI and update themselves. Each one is a way in.

MinGent uses only what comes with Windows. The download is just source:

Easy to change

It's one folder of plain C#, with no framework in the way. Ask any AI to add what you're missing, then run Build-MinGent.bat again.

AGENTS.md in the download tells that AI how the code is laid out and which rules to keep.

It asks first

Auto mode works on its own but still stops for these. Full auto asks nothing.

  • Installing software and packagesOn
  • Starting and using other programsOn
  • Deleting widely or outside the work folderOn
  • Passwords, keys, the clipboard and MinGent's own dataOn
  • Payments, passwords and account actionsOn

Private by default

No account, no telemetry, no logs. With a local model, your chats stay on your PC.

Offline mode cuts MinGent's connections, and Erase everything overwrites what it stored.

  • Work offlineOff
  • Keep an error logOff
